Denali Pre Orders And Other News

12.23.2005

Hello Everyone,

A quick update for you:

1. You may now pre-order the Denali Pinnacle DVD! The official release date is February 7th. Those who pre-order it will get a discounted price of $12.00 (normally $16) and will also be shipped the DVD about 3 weeks before the release date, first come first served. The DVD contains over 85 minutes of content, including 44 minutes of concert footage, videos for "Hold Your Breath" and "Relief," alternate angles for "The Instinct" and "Normal Days," over 150 pictures of the band members, two home movies shot by guitarist Cam, and a hidden Easter egg. We have a trailer of the DVD up on the media section of the website for preview, and Alternative Press is featuring an exclusive live clip from the DVD on the media page of their site. Speaking of Alternative Press, they had this to say about the DVD: “Besides featuring two members of Engine Down, Denali boasted a front woman (in Maura Davis) whose voice has yet to be matched by anyone in indie rock. Savor her pipes as you get to watch a live set recorded at the pinnacle (get it?) of their all-too-brief-career.”

2. Also for those that missed it before, a joint compilation with Saddle Creek Records entitled Saddle Up and Love It was released recently. It is available at Hot Topic stores and can also be purchased on the internet by going to
http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=229541. It includes material from a variety of bands on both labels, including Bright Eyes, Cursive, Engine Down, Decahedron, Division of Laura Lee, Criteria, Rah Bras , and more. There are 73 minutes of music on the CD and is well worth the $6.99 price.

3. The new Rah Bras full-length CD, WHOHM, is out now and getting positive write-ups (and rightly so) from Spin and Pitchfork to other publications:

Venus – “So damn refreshing”

Alternative Press – “We promise you will not confuse Rah Bras with any other band in your lifetime”

Giant Robot – “Rah Bras have no problem cutting loose with rock beats that inspire stomping, gyrating, and dizziness”

Both bizarre and strangely accessible, WHOHM achieves the rare genius of genuine creation in a realm fraught with endless reference and carbon copy replication of tired ideas. The band will be playing shows throughout the winter to support the release and will be touring Europe in late spring 2006. Make sure to see them when they come to your town.

4. The Grey online S/T EP is up on Emusic and iTunes; it should be up on some more digital services soon. The Canadian iTunes store is featuring the release on their alternative home page! Sonic Deadline Records in Canada released a limited run of the EP in silk-screened digipaks, and we have this available for sale in our web store for those interested.

5. All of our sales motioned in the last update are good through the end of the month.

A lot more news in a few weeks. Have a great holiday season and rest of your 2005!

Take care,

Lovitt

December News

11.30.2005

Hi everyone,

We have been getting a lot of e-mail asking when the Denali Pinnacle DVD will be available for order. The official release date will be some time at the end of January or early February, but we will start to take preorders on our web site around December 15th for it. Those who preorder it will get a discount and will also be shipped the DVD around 3 weeks before the release date. We will be sending out a reminder in a few weeks right before we start taking preorders. The DVD contains over 85 minutes of content, including 44 minutes of concert footage, videos for "Hold your Breath" and "Relief," alternate angles for "The Instinct" and "Normal Days," over 150 pictures of the band members, 2 home movies shot by Cam, and a hidden Easter egg. We have a trailer of the DVD up on the media section of the website for preview.

In celebration of this and all of the other DVDs we are working on at the moment, we have decided that through the end of December (we extended it) the Lovitt Transmissions: Vol. 1 DVD will be available on our website for $9.00 ($7.00 off!). It makes the perfect holiday gift!

The new Rah Bras full-length CD, WHOHM, is out now and getting positive write-ups (and rightly so) from Spin to Pitchfork. Both bizarre and strangely accessible, WHOHM achieves the rare genius of genuine creation in a realm fraught with endless reference and carbon copy replication of tired ideas. The band has been playing shows to support the release and will be adding some more in the near future. Make sure to go see them when they come to your town.

We added a song from Haram’s upcoming S/T full-length to the flash radio on our website for you to check out. Kevin Lamiell amicably left Haram recently, but longtime friend Jeff Kane (ex-City of Caterpillar, Malady) quickly learned Kevin’s parts and has blended into the group seamlessly. The CD/LP should be out around March and the band will be doing a 5-week tour starting at the end of February to support the record.

The Grey's full-length, Asleep at the Wheel, will also be released at the same time as the Haram full-length. They just got back from a successful swing through the east coast of Canada. The online S/T EP will be up on Emusic within a few days and on iTunes by the end of Dec. Sonic Deadline Records in Canada released a limited run of the EP in silk-screened digipaks. We have this available for sale in our web store for those interested.

We have recently added a few new non-Lovitt items to our web store including the Haram demo, The Grey S/T EP, Burn Collector issue #13, and more. We will be adding even more items in the next few weeks, so be on the lookout.

Bats & Mice has come full circle with their line-up and Jonathan Fuller has re-joined the band. Luke moved out to Oakland, CA, in 2004 and joined Totimoshi and with Engine Down coming to an end, it worked out that Jonathan could once again work with Ben and David. They have been working on new material and hope to record a full-length at some point next year. No word on when the first show with this line-up will be (this version of the Bats & Mice never played live) but hopefully they will be ready by late spring. We have decided to have a 20% off sale on all Bats & Mice CDs for the month of December.

Speaking of sales, we have decided to have a big sale on items by bands that broke up this year. Any Lovitt-released CDs from Engine Down (and their last LP), Del Cielo, Decahedron, and Dame Fate are 30% off through the end of the year. Money from this sale will help get out all of our upcoming planned releases.

To anyone that videotaped or took pictures of the Lovitt 10 Year Anniversary show or the last Engine Down show in Richmond, we would really appreciate it if we could get copies for possible use in the next Lovitt DVD or the Engine Down DVD. You can email info@lovitt.com with the subject "footage/pictures" for more information on how to get stuff to us. We can use anything you have!

On a semi-separate note, we are looking for high-quality photos of the last Four Hundred Years show in Philadelphia. If you have any, please e-mail info@lovitt.com.

Lastly, a few weeks ago a joint compilation with Saddle Creek entitled Saddle Up and Love It was released. It is available at Hot Topic stores and can also be purchased from them on the internet by going to:http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=229541.
It includes material from a variety of our bands and theirs including Bright Eyes, Cursive, Engine Down, Decahedron, Division of Laura Lee, Criteria, Rah Bras, and more. There is 73 mins. of music on the CD and is well worth the $6.99 price.

More news in a few weeks.

Take care,

Lovitt

Lovitt Records Oct News

10.05.2005

Hello everyone,

A lot of news as usual. We want to start with the good news that Haram has joined the Lovitt family.

The latest addition to the Lovitt Records roster, Haram's members boast an impressive hardcore pedigree, a resume that spans a decade and over 1000 shows between the individual members with stints in Majority Rule, Pg. 99, and the Out_Circuit. The band first assembled in summer 2004 and played their first show in January 2005 to coincide with the release of their demo, which they put out themselves. Since then, Haram has toured with critically acclaimed acts, such as Envy and Darkest Hour; they also toured the East Coast and the South for two weeks in spring 2005. The band recently recorded their first, self-titled LP, in Stoughton, MA . Unrelenting and forward, Haram possesses a mature, tempered confidence that only comes with experience and do-it-yourself resolve. Expect their full-length out early next year; the band will tour extensively in support of it, with plans to cover the U.S, Europe, and Japan . We will have more information and MP3s up on our site soon but in the meantime, visit their website at www.harammusic.com . We think you will be as excited as we are once you hear and see this band.

We are also really excited to announce we will be releasing a DVD from Denali. For those unfamiliar, Denali formed in 2000 when Maura Davis asked her brother, Engine Down's Keeley Davis, if he wanted to start a band with her. The band also featured Richmond locals Cam DiNunzio and Jonathan Fuller (Engine Down). After receiving glowing praise, releasing two full-lengths, and touring with the likes of the Deftones, Cursive, Sparklehorse, Clinic, Pinback, the Faint, the band decided that they should simply walk away rather than burn out. The DVD is entitled Pinnacle and contains over 85 minutes of content, including 44 minutes of concert footage, videos for "Hold your Breath" and "Relief," alternate angles for "The Instinct" and "Normal Days," over 150 pictures of the band members, 2 home movies shot by Cam, and a hidden Easter egg. We have a trailer of the DVD up on the media section of the website for preview. We hope to have a release date for you by the next update.

The new Rah Bras full length, WHOHM, will be released on November 7th. We will be taking pre-orders for it on our website in the next week or so and will send out a special announcement when that happens. For the last decade, the trio has been spelunking the nether regions of pop, pomp, and punk on a smattering of EPs and 2001's full length Ruy Blas. Their genre-defying audio promiscuity has fermented into the anvil-drop-rock of 2005's WHOHM. Heavy synths grind and squeal upon pure propulsion as lyrics wax solipsistic over the cyclical nature of all modren man's foists and foibles. Rogue song structures and plenty of surprises around every corner, Rah Bras continue to master the art of not boring themselves by subjugating the rock idiom to their every whim. Both bizarre and strangely accessible, WHOHM achieves the rare genius of genuine creation in a realm fraught with endless reference and carbon-copy replication of tired ideas. The band will be touring a lot over the next six months starting with some shows with Measles Mumps Rubella and VCR later this month.

Now for some unfortunate news: Del Cielo has announced the end of their collaboration. In these difficult times, their release catalogue of two full-lengths and varying 7"s and compilations is equally, if not more so, matched by their outstanding ethics and activism in both local and national communities. Aside from extensive touring and writing, the band, collectively and as individuals, continuously dedicated themselves to varying benefits, women's rights organizations, and political causes. With this disbanding comes the loss of a not only a wonderful musical endeavor, but a dwindling punk ethos of using the entity of a band as a means of activism and philanthropy. They will be missed by us and many other people from around the world.

The Grey's full-length, Asleep at the Wheel, has been sent off to be pressed and we hope to have a release date in the near future. We are really excited about the release and the band. Hopefully they will be able to tour the US at some point, although they plan to tour Canada , Europe, and Japan soon. We will also be releasing an online-only EP in the next few weeks. If you have not had a chance yet, check out the bands web site: http://thegreymusic.com.

The Lovitt live series, a series of digital-only releases, is up on iTunes and eMusic and will be up on other digital sites in the near future. The first couple are Frodus' "Live at Black Cat," Sleepytime Trio's "Live At Black Cat," and Ben Davis' "Live on XM Radio." More to be announced soon.

To anyone that videotaped or took pictures of the Lovitt 10 Year Anniversary show or the last Engine Down show in Richmond , we would really appreciate it if we could get copies for possible use in the next Lovitt DVD or the Engine Down DVD. You can email info@lovitt.com with the subject "footage/pictures" for more information on how to get stuff to us. We can use anything you have!

On a semi-separate note, we are looking for high quality photos of the last Four Hundred Years show in Philadelphia. If you have any, please e mail: info@lovitt.com.

Matt Michel from Haram/Majority Rule designed some great posters for the Lovitt Anniversary show that he is selling on his site. He also has posters for Del Cielo's CD release party and Decahedron's first show ever.

Also, our friend Illeana who played with the Ben Davis band for awhile has a web site: http://www.indiaromeo.com where she sells amazing crafts that she designed and made.

This news update is getting long so we will save some stuff for the next update. Also, check the website as we sometimes add news there before we have a chance to send out updates.

Take care,

Lovitt
